The Sri Lanka Police has set up a new unit called the “Diyamatha Special Operations Unit” for the Special Task Force; Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated.
This has been formed with 16 officers and the new unit will be assisted in the future to curb illegal activities related to water and reservoirs in various areas.
Boat training has also been provided for the Diyamatha Special Operations Unit with the assistance of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Sri Lanka Motor Boat Association.
