Education Minister Susil Premajayanthas that the Ministry of Education has planned to introduce English medium in all schools from the grade one next year in line with the education reforms.

Addressing an event organized at the ministry under the theme ‘English Simple’, the minister said that this decision was taken to help children in rural areas to move with the world without fear of new technology.

“With education reforms, English language proficiency is essential in the advanced technology world,” he said. The minister also said that it has been proposed to teach mathematics and science subjects through English medium in Sinhala medium classes from grade six onwards.
