Russia Ukraine war effects on Sri Lankan Economy-Importing wheat flour from India stops. Sri Lanka is leading to another crisis

The Ministry of Commerce has informed the importers of wheat flour in Sri Lanka that India has suspended the export of wheat flour due to the war in Ukraine with Russia.

Due to that, they have pointed out that the import of bread flour from India to Sri Lanka has stopped and currently the wheat flour is being imported from Turkey.

The orderers have mentioned that although the import of wheat flour from India can be done quickly, they have to wait for about two months while importing wheat flour from Turkey.

Currently, there is a shortage of wheat flour in the market and the price per kilo is at the level of 400 rupees.

Bakery owners claim that they have had to increase the price of bakery products due to this.
