Mr. Samith Senarath, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Mobile Phone Importers and Sellers Association said to the media that the ban on the import of mobile phone batteries and accessories may lead to a large shortage and black market prices in the country in the future.
He said that the authorities should be more careful when banning the import of mobile phone batteries especially since they are not manufactured in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Senarath said that even though the country agrees to create import policies with the existing situation, it is not acceptable to impose bans on such things in a situation where the necessary goods are not being produced in the country and there will also be a shortage of mobile phone batteries as there was a shortage of them in the past.
