China has warned Sri Lanka that if the Chinese ship ‘Yuan Wang 5’ is not allowed to enter the port of Hambantota and return, the situation may hinder the provision of Chinese assistance to Sri Lanka for loan packages from the International Monetary Fund.

Several rounds of discussions have already been held regarding the possibility of bringing this ship into the country.

Representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Colombo who have participated in the discussions have informed that Sri Lanka should seriously consider the assistance provided by China in solving the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
