Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe is scheduled to take oath as the Acting President of the country in front of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya.

Mr Wickramasinghe is going to act as acting president for 7 days after the resignation of Former President Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa from the presidency.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced today that the process of appointing a new president will be done through Parliament within the next seven days.

He also mentioned that the Prime Minister will serve as the Acting President until then.
