Part of the responsibility for Sri Lanka’s economic crisis is being transferred to China – Taiwan

Taiwan claims that part of the responsibility for Sri Lanka’s economic crisis is being transferred to China. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Joan Oh made this accusation.

The Taiwanese spokeswoman also pointed out that this unprecedented economic crisis in the history of Sri Lanka after its independence in 1948 is a result of the debt trap created by China’s “One Road One Screen Program” (BRI).

The One Road-One Screen program is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 70 countries and international organizations in its Asia to Africa regions.

Meanwhile, the Taiwanese Foreign Ministry, which has indicated that the 60 Taiwanese nationals in Sri Lanka are safe, is in contact with the Taiwanese citizens. It is also indicated that individuals can visit the ministry or its representative office in Thailand for assistance.

Meanwhile, the heads of the two main intelligence services of the United States and the United Kingdom, the FBI and M15, will hold a special press conference in Britain.

It was noted that if China were to take over Taiwan by force, it would be one of the worst business disruptions in history.
