World Diabetes Day is today (14). “Let’s be aware and protect ourselves” is the theme of this year’s Diabetes Day.
In the non-communicable disease unit of the Ministry of Health, Dr Shanthi Gunawardena, a specialist, stated that the number of diabetic patients in Sri Lanka has doubled by 2021 compared to 2015.
Commenting further, she stated that 10% of pregnant mothers have been diagnosed with diabetes.
