Burkina Faso’s military leader Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Damiba has been deposed. Foreign media reported that an army captain announced it on national television.
Lt. Col. Damiba’s inability to fight an Islamic Jihad insurgency is said to be the reason for his removal.
The army captain also announced that the borders will be closed indefinitely and all political activities will be suspended. Lt. Col. Damiba seized power in Burkina Faso in a coup last May.
