The Express Pearl Ship burning damage- , Another Rs. 9110 lakhs to compensate the fishermen

According to the Ministry of Fisheries, another 9110 lakh rupees have been awarded as compensation to the affected fishermen due to the fire that broke out on Express Pearl ship. The money was provided by the ship’s insurance company.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Fisheries stated that this money will be distributed among 15,032 fishermen identified in Gampaha, Colombo and Kalutara districts.

Also, 3480 lakh rupees and 3350 lakh rupees given by the insurance company were distributed to the fishermen as interim compensations on two previous occasions.

That is through the Divisional Secretariat offices in the areas where the fishermen reside.
