President’s approval to detain and investigate Wasantha Mudalige and the other three for 90 days

Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa says that President Ranil Wickramasinghe has approved the detention of Inter-University Student Council convener Wasantha Mudali, Hashantha Gunathilake and Reverend Galwala Siridhamma Thero for 90 days under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr Nihal Talduwa confirmed that.

19 people including Mr Wasantha Mudalige were arrested by the police during a protest held by the Inter-University Student Union in Colombo on the 18th, and 15 people except the three including Mr Wasantha Mudalige were released on bail after being produced in court recently.

The court ordered that one person be remanded until the 26th.

The three including Wasantha Mudalige were initially detained under 72-hour detention orders, and subject to the approval of the Defense Minister, they will be detained for 90 days and investigated.
