Fuel shortage in Sri Lanka- A failure of one of the generators of the Norochchole power plant.

Norochchola thermal power plant has stated its one generator failure.

The Minister of Power and Energy Mr Kanchana Wijesekera says that work is going on to correct the error.

He states that the second generator is currently planned and undergoing maintenance and only the third generator is currently generating electricity.

 However, he says that diesel power plants will be operated to supply the electricity demand.

“There has been a breakdown in Unit 1 of Norochcholai Power Plant. Technical staff is working to identify the fault. Unit 2 is undergoing scheduled maintenance work. Unit 3 will continue to operate. West Coast & other Fuel Power Plants will be used to manage the supply.”
