Mr Nandalal Weerasinghe of the Central Bank mentions that the political instability in the country will hinder the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
Commenting on the Reuters news service, he has indicated that a stable political situation will be necessary to obtain the extended credit facility requested from the International Monetary Fund as a remedy for the country’s economic crisis.
He says that the situation should be brought about quickly and that it will be easy to proceed with the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
