Sri Lankan Airlines to a Middle East County

The government has decided to extend the operation of Sri Lankan Airlines to a Middle Eastern country.  The government thinks that the airline needs more fuel to run the airline and if the country that produces the fuel is given to the company, it will be able to operate more easily. The company is currently operating with a loan balance of over Rs. 31,000 crore. The government intends to restructure as this is no longer sustainable. The Minister in charge of the subject Nimal Siripala de Silva also stated that this work should be completed soon

The Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka -Fuel imports to Sri Lanka halted. The whole country is on the verge of stopping

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Dissanayake stated that the import of oil from Sri Lanka has come to a complete halt.  He said that the fuel tankers that were scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 23rd had not yet arrived in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the whole country is on the verge of stopping today, he added. He said this while he was addressing the Jaffna District Convention of the National People’s Force.

A member of the Cricket team invites a woman to a hotel room and pleads guilty

The media reports that Kamil Mishra, a former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, will be banned for a year. The sentence will take effect after the players plead guilty to violating the code of conduct.  He was accused of bringing a woman into his hotel room during a match against Bangladesh last May. Following the allegation, Sri Lanka Cricket took immediate action to suspend his tour of the tournament.The Sunday Times

The economic crisis in Sri Lanka-The CPC has completely stopped releasing fuel

The Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association states that the placing of fuel orders has come to a complete halt with effect from noon yesterday. They say that since Sunday is a holiday, there will be no fuel transport on that day as well and accordingly no fuel transport will take place until Monday. The President of the Association said that no bowsers will go to the filling stations yesterday morning except for refuelled vehicles. Meanwhile, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has stated that the planned arrival of fuel tankers to Sri Lanka will be delayed and that a date for their arrival in Sri Lanka cannot be guaranteed therefore fuel will be released only for essential services shortly.
