Indians also set fire to the politicians houses

Police in riot gear storm a rally in Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India on Tuesday.

The protesters also set fire to the houses of Minister of State for Transport P.Vishwaroop and P. Satheesh, a member of the Legislative Council.

The minister’s family had already been taken to a safe place. It was not initially reported whether the MP’s family members were at home, but police sources said no one was injured.

Protesters are said to have started the protest against the decision of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to rename the newly created Konasima District in the State after Dr. BR in a context where they are at risk without at least one healthy meal a day

Twenty police officers were injured in the clashes, Home Affairs Minister Tanetti Vanitha told the media. She said the violence was unfortunate and that the police were taking strong action against the perpetrators.
