Fuel Crisis affecting water supply

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has warned that it would not able to supply water to many areas if it does not receive Diesel for the generators that are used to generate electricity at Treatment Plants, during power outages.

Deputy General Manager for the Western (Central) Region A. K. Kapuruge speaking to News 1st said that the supply of water to Piliyandala, Pannipitiya, Maharagama, Hokandara, and Battaramulla will be affected.

At the same time, the demand for water has increased due to the arid weather conditions affecting the island.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board urges the general public to use water sparingly.
