The Electricity Board request people to Use electricity sparingly

The Electricity Board says that many thermal power plants are running out of fuel.

Its media spokesman Andrew Navamuni called on the people to use electricity sparingly.

He said that the diesel at the Kelanitissa power plant was rapidly declining. The power plant will add 149 megawatts to the national grid.

In addition, a number of power plants including Kolonnawa, Matugama and Thulhiriya have not been able to supply fuel so far.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission allowed the power to be cut off for more than three hours today.
