Russian troops to capture Ukrainian capital in next few hours – Ukrainian President

The President of Ukraine says that the Russian army will seize power in its capital Kiev in the next few hours.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has said that the Russian army will strike like a storm. He said in a video message that the next few hours would be the most difficult hours facing his country, which would determine the future fate of his country.

Russia, meanwhile, used its veto power to reject a resolution condemning the UN Security Council’s invasion of Ukraine.

The resolution received 11 votes in favor, with China, India and the United Arab Emirates abstaining.

Foreign media reported that the resolution failed as Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, used its veto power against the resolution.

Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says about 5 million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries as refugees.

The agency says more than 100,000 people have been displaced in Ukraine.
