P.C.R. Records are not required for every death – a special circular

The Director-General of Health Services issued a special circular yesterday (16) to all Heads of Divisions stating that it is no longer necessary PCR test for a post-mortem examination of all deaths

Covid examination reports had previously been made mandatory for all post-mortems.

Accordingly, the post mortem report should be obtained with the PCR only at the discretion of the forensic pathologist, coroner, or treating specialist, Covid 19 Coordinator, Dr. Anwar Hamdani, Director of Technical Services, Ministry of Health said.

The Director said that these steps were taken to minimize the inconvenience caused to the public in releasing the bodies.
