Plantation workers are protesting requesting wages

A group of plantation workers at the Kotagala Plantation Company’s Chryslas Farm plantation staged a 10-day protest demanding the reopening of the closed tea factory and the payment of their full wages commensurate with the number of days worked.

Plantation workers at the Kotagala Chryslas Farm estate went on strike for 10 days, gathering in front of the estate’s tea factory.

The Estate Authority has closed the tea factory on its estate, claiming it has been undergoing renovations for about a year.

The protesting plantation workers at the Kotagala Chryslas Farm estate say that the number of working days per month at the tea estate will be reduced due to the failure of the estate authorities to reopen the factory.
