A police sergeant has died after being hospitalized with serious injuries after her husband set her on fire with petrol.

The deceased has been identified as a police sergeant in the Gonapinuwala area in Balapitiya.

 The suspect’s husband has retired from the army and is working as a fisherman.

 After an argument between them, the husband beat her and threw a bottle of petrol on her uniform and set it on fire. The arrested husband has been remanded.
