A young French couple had boarded the Udarata Menike train from Colombo to Badulla yesterday (03) and the girl had suddenly fallen off the train.

It is between Ohiya and Idalgashinna railway stations. It is reported that the two were traveling on the platform of the train.

 The boyfriend also jumped from the train to save his girlfriend who fell suddenly from the running train.

The other passengers on the train then rang the bell and ordered the train to stop.

The couple sustained minor injuries in the accident and were admitted to the Diyatalawa Base Hospital.
