The government has decided to develop the Galle Port as a port city. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) yesterday briefed investors in this regard.
Addressing the conference, Ports Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said that a new breakwater would be constructed near the Galle Port.
Under this, forty new hectares will be owned by the Galle Harbor. He also said that the Galle area, like the Colombo port city, would be redeveloped by local investors by building hotels and shops in the tourism sector.
