According to the Association of Public Health Inspectors, the number of people being hospitalized is on the rise, as is the number of daily cases of covid 19.

The association also said that the wards that were given to covid patients in many hospitals are now being given to other patients and the capacity of the hospital is being exceeded.

However, the hospital authorities have been instructed to increase the capacity of the hospitals as per the need, said the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr Hemantha Herath.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the country’s health system has the potential to control any new variant of the covid epidemic.
