Decision on power cuts will be taken today

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) says it will decide today (27) whether to allow a power cut.

Its chairman Janaka Ratnayake said the commission would meet this afternoon to review the power crisis in the country and decide whether there was a need for a power cut.

Following a review of the current power crisis on the 25th, the Public Utilities Commission has stated that there is no need to make any power cuts until today.

The power cut proposal will be reviewed today after considering the existing fuel stocks and the amount of electricity that can be generated as well as the electricity demand.
