According to Indian media reports, Sri Lanka has requested the loan to be used to purchase fuel, drugs and essential commodities.

The request was made during a meeting between Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar.

It was also discussed that India has agreed to provide US $ 500 million to purchase fuel for Sri Lanka.
