A person who went on a pilgrimage to Sri Pada has died

A person has died due to a sudden illness while going on a pilgrimage to Sri Pada. The deceased has been identified as a 75-year-old resident of Nawalapitiya.

The deceased had come with his family members on a pilgrimage to Sri Pada where he had suddenly fallen ill.

A police officer who was on duty at the time was informed and arrangements were made to bring him down immediately. Police say he died at the hospital.

The body of the deceased has been placed at the Hatton Dikoya Hospital and an autopsy is to be conducted. Nallathanniya police are conducting further investigations.
