CPC agrees to provide diesel for electricity

Steps have been taken to provide 1500 metric tons of diesel per day to maintain the power plants which have been shut down by the Ceylon Electricity Board, said the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Sumith Wijesinghe.

The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation further stated that further action will be taken after a discussion to be held again on Tuesday (18).

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has previously stated that it will no longer be able to supply fuel to the CEB on a loan basis.

However, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said that the decision was taken at the request of the Electricity Board.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has previously stated that further power cuts will be imposed in the near future if fuel is not available for operation at power plants.
