One of the strongest players in the South African team has abruptly decided to retire from Test cricket.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kok said he was deciding for the good of his family.
De Kok, 29, has announced his decision to the South African Cricket Board shortly after the Test defeat against India.
His wife, Sasha, is expecting their first child. “My family is everything to me. I want the opportunity to spend more time with them. We are on the verge of a new and unique chapter in our lives.”
He made his Test debut in 2014 and has so far scored 3,300 runs in 54 Tests at an average of 38.82.
It includes 6 centuries and 22 half-centuries
