Two individuals arrested for stealing cheques

Police have arrested two suspects for stealing cheques and depositing them in a bank. The arrested persons are aged 32 and 38.

 Investigations have revealed that the suspects are residents of Athurugiriya and Homagama areas.

It is reported that they broke into the seat of a scooter type motorcycle and stole the cheques.

The suspects had stolen cheques worth Rs. 470,000 and deposited them in the bank. Police also seized Rs. 403,000 from the money they had obtained at the time of their arrest.

 The suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged with the Athurugiriya Police and are due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today.
