A 14-year-old girl has died after being assaulted in the Mount Temple area in the Gampola Police Division.
The girl’s uncle had assaulted her yesterday (21) due to a love affair.
Later yesterday morning, when the girl was sick and moaning, the girl’s father had beaten the girl again saying that he would not let her sleep.
The victim was identified as 14-year-old Nipuni Nuwanthika Bandara, a student at a well-known girls’ school in Gampola.
Police say that the girl’s father and uncle have been arrested in connection with the incident. Gampola Police are conducting further investigations.
