Vegetable prices will be further increased in the upcoming festive season

Prices of raw chillies, fish, chillies, tomatoes and lettuce in the Hatton area have risen sharply, with vegetable traders in the area saying prices will rise further in the coming days.

At present the raw chilli kilo in the Hatton area is Rs. 950 – Rs. 1000 and the fish chilli kilo is Rs. 750 – Rs. 800. Tomato kilo will sell for between Rs 550 – Rs. 600 rupees, and lettuce kilo between Rs 1,000 – Rs.1,200.

Commenting on the inquiry, several fishmongers said that this situation has arisen due to the increase in wholesale prices of raw chillies, fish, chillies, tomatoes and lettuce.

The traders further said that the prices of all vegetables including this commodity may go up further than the current high prices in the coming days of Christmas.
