Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been released from several charges filed in connection to the 2016 Central Bank Bond Scam case.
The Colombo High Court Trial at Bar today released Karunanayake along with ten others.
Karunanayake has been released from 11 chargers out of 22 that were filed in connection to the scam.
The charges were filed to ascertain if Karunanayake and the other suspects had profited nearly Rs. 15 million by violating the conditions pertaining to the central Bank bonds that were issued on 31st March 2015.
The three-judge Trial at Bar announced today that as the 11 charges filed against the suspects cannot be continued, it is being dismissed and the suspects are being released.
The case will be taken up once again on the 26th of January 2022 for further consideration. (NewsWire)
