Fertiliser subsidy will stop A bag of Fertiliser will cost Rs.10200

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa says that the fertilizer subsidy program which has been active in the country for more than 60 years has been stopped from yesterday.

He also points out that a metric ton of urea in the world market today is around US $ 1,000.

 That is, an average 50 kg bag of fertilizer would cost at least 10200 rupees, he said.

He said there were no farmers in the country who could get a bag of fertilizer at such a high price and called on the government to withdraw the decision to cut the subsidy immediately.
