The main lamppost at the Attkattiveli Maha Viru Cemetery in the Manthai West Divisional Secretariat in Mannar was destroyed yesterday (19), residents said.
The first lantern that lights the first lamp at the annual Heroes’ Day celebrations has been smashed and destroyed by a group of people.
Members of the Tamil Maha Viru Organizing Committee have strongly condemned the act as a sabotage.
The people of Mannar are also urging the authorities to immediately find the perpetrators of the destruction of the Tamil people’s commemorative rights and enforce the law on them expeditiously.
