A woman has died after her husband assaulted her to death

A woman has died in the Katpagapuram area in Poovarsankulam, Vavuniya after her husband assaulted her in a family dispute later he has set her on fire and flee away , police said.

As the quarrel between the husband and wife escalated, the wife fell unconscious due to the husband assaulting her and then the husband poured kerosene on her body and fled.

 Police have revealed that the woman, who was already badly burnt, had died on the spot before being taken to the hospital even the neighbours then tried to put out the woman’s fire.

The deceased has been identified as 43 years old  Rajendram Anatra. She was a resident of Katpagapuram. Poovarsankulam police have taken steps to arrest the husband who set the fire He is to be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court, police said.
