The ship carrying Chinese fertilizer, which was rejected due to the presence of harmful bacteria, is returning to Sri Lanka from Singapore, says the Samagi Janabalawega.
Addressing the media at the Leader of the Opposition’s office, MP P. Harrison questioned the steps being taken by the government to prevent the stock of fertilizer from entering the country.
He said the Chinese embassy had strongly exerted pressure on Sri Lanka about the rejection of the samples, but government officials did not have the strength to say they were toxic and harmful.
Meanwhile, former Governor Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon also stated that the ship carrying the consignment of Chinese fertilizer was returning to Sri Lanka. He says that the ship is ready to land in Sri Lanka in a few days.
