A group of backbenchers of the ruling party in the Parliament have requested President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to return chemical fertilizers to paddy cultivation, vegetable cultivation and export crops in the country.
The request has been made by sending a letter signed by about 40 backbenchers to the President.
They have pointed out that paddy farmers are facing a severe crisis due to lack of fertilizer. Therefore, it is reported that they have requested to reconsider this request sensitively.
