The body of a development officer who had been missing in Jaffna was found in a well in the Nawali area

The body of a development officer who had been missing for two days in the Sandilipay area in Jaffna was found in a well in the Nawali area last night (30), Jaffna Police said.

The man, who worked as a development officer at the Kopay Divisional Secretariat, had left home two days ago to exercise. However, he did not return home and his relatives lodged a complaint with the police but the missing person was not found.

However, after a resident of Nawali area saw a dead body in a well and informed the police about it, the police recovered the body of the person concerned and investigations revealed that the body belonged to the missing development officer.

The deceased has been identified as Manikkam Jayakumar, 51, a resident of Sandilipay.
