Gamini Wadigamangawa, a former chairman of the Anamaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested by the police.

Anamaduwa Police say that he has been arrested for assaulting a woman with a firearm.

 The victim is a 58-year-old mother of three living in Anamaduwa.

According to the complaint, the clash had taken place due to a dispute over a paddy field boundary and the former chairman had hit a woman in the chest and face with a firearm in his hand.

The woman was admitted to the Anamaduwa Base Hospital after the incident.
