NMRA Data Deletion – Software Engineer Arrested

The CID has arrested a software engineer at Epic Lanka Technologies for maintaining data on the National Drug Regulatory Authority.

The software engineer of Epic Lanka Technologies in Wellapita, Divulapitiya was arrested by the CID at around 11.00 am yesterday (28).

During interrogation, it was revealed that the person had prepared a special order to delete the data of the National Drug Regulatory Authority.

Investigations by the CID have revealed that the IP number on which the command was sent and the IP address of the suspected software engineer were the same.

 Investigations have further revealed that the suspect engineer had prepared the relevant order to delete the data from his  home.

Although the engineer stated that he had given the instructions by mistake during the preliminary interrogation, later investigations revealed that this was not the case, police said.

 The CID is conducting further investigations into the purpose for which the data was deleted.
