The Lankathilake statue house in Polonnaruwa has been damaged by lightning.

Lightning that exploded on the night of the 18th has also struck the Lankathilaka statue house in the Archaeological site.

According to the Archaeological Department, the statue was found to have been damaged by lightning.

They also say they are investigating whether the walls and pillars of the building exploded.
