Lasith Malinga, one of Sri Lanka’s greatest fast bowlers, has decided to retire from international cricket.

He has issued a statement in this regard through his social media account. The relevant statement is as follows.

 “The knowledge and experience I have gained in national and international cricket over the past 17 years will no longer be what I need on a cricket field.

Because today I decided to say goodbye to the last remaining link in my cricketing life, T20 cricket. I will always be with our new players as well as those of you who love cricket who are working hard to move forward in cricket, to take cricket forward.
