It is reported that Prof. WD Lakshman is preparing to resign from the post of Governor of the Central Bank.
It is learned that his resignation letter is being prepared to be sent to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Following his resignation, he will be promoted to a higher position in the International Monetary Fund.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal will be appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank, government sources said.
