State Minister of State for Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal has stated that he does not confirm or deny the rumours that he will be re-elected as the Governor of the Central Bank.

He further said that  he had served as central bank governor for about eight years but had not received a pension or at least a duty-free vehicle from any government.

However, he said that although the letter of appointment given to him by the Secretary to the President in 2006 had clearly stated that he was entitled to a pension, he had not yet received a pension.

He said these while he was speaking to the media at a media briefing in Colombo.
