State Minister of Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal has decided to resign from his post of Minister of State and National List Member of Parliament.
He will resign to accept an invitation from the government to take over the governorship of the Central Bank, the sources said.
It also states that the current Governor of the Central Bank, Prof. WD Lakshman, will be appointed to a senior post in the International Monetary Fund.
The report further states that the government has already been informed that Mr. Cabraal will step down from his current post following the resignation of the current Governor of the Central Bank
