The Secretary to the Ministry of Education Prof. Kapila Perera states that schools in the island are ready to open as soon as the green light is felt by the health sector.

He also said that discussions are underway with provincial education directors on making schools open.

Accordingly, a plan for the reopening of schools will be presented to the Minister of Education after this discussion.

He added that about 88% of teachers have been given the first dose of the corona vaccine and the second dose is currently being given.
