The Commissioner General of Essential Services has issued a written order to the Inspector General of Police, all Government Agents, the Consumer Affairs Authority and the Food Commissioner regarding the provision of essential food items in case of emergencies.

It has been informed that action should be taken to procure stocks of essential food items illegally at government approved prices and provide them to the people at reasonable prices.

It has also ordered them to intervene and report to themselves.
