Elections Commissioner Saman Sri Ratnayake has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kotelawala Defense University Hospital due to a corona virus infection.
He was admitted to the Teldeniya Hospital due to a sudden respiratory distress while being quarantined at his home in Kandy.
He was later transferred from Teldeniya Hospital to Kotelawala University Hospital for further treatment.
According to the media he was admitted to the intensive care unit and the commissioner is being given oxygen there.
Hospital sources say his condition has improved somewhat.
