The Cabinet has approved to increase the fine of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 100,000 imposed on traders selling essential commodities in violation of the maximum retail price.

 Accordingly, the relevant decision will be announced in a gazette notification today (10), the Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena said.
